The Company
  • A market leader in the construction and housing sector in the North West, are actively looking to recruit an experienced Health and Safety Manager due to growth in the business
  • As a business, the contractor provides affordable new builds, with a great reputation for construction, this contractor can offer a permanent position for an experienced Health and Safety Manager
  • Their team is very important to the company and the success of the business and projects are determined by the work the team delivers on a daily basis
The Role
  • To provide advice, support, training, monitoring of sites / offices to ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and to provide feedback on any accidents that occur
  • Undertake the role of Competent Person for the organisation as defined under Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Ensure Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Standards are followed and that employees are aware of and understand policies and standards relating to their roles
  • Create a positive and open attitude to health and safety within the organisation, encouraging the reporting of near misses and working to improve accident prevention across the business
  • Investigate and report on accidents / incidents, prepare recommendations to prevent reoccurrence and provide feedback and analysis to the Directors
  • Produce lessons learnt / guidance for circulation to construction teams
  • Undertake proactive health and safety audits of sites to ensure sites are being managed in compliance with relevant health and safety requirements and that where possible best practice is being followed
  • Prepare audiT reports and action sheets following audits undertaken and ensure actions are closed out within agreed timeframes
  • Arrange for health and safety inspections of sites with external health and safety consultants and review actions arising
Qualifications and experience
  • Formal relevant qualifications e.g. NEBOSH
  • 3-years experience operating in a similar role in residential construction
  • Knowledge and experience of ISO 14001, OSHAS and ISO 45001
  • Confident communicator
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
